Nicola Manganello creates extraordinary living spaces for clients with distinctive taste—and offers elements of her signature style in her new boutique and design studio, Nicola Home.
Nicola fell in love with historic homes growing up in Yarmouth, Maine, and with color theory and sculpture at the Maine College of Art. The flea markets of New England taught her to create stunning effects on tight budgets, while the antique stores and custom shops of Italy gave her an appreciation for the most refined pieces.
Juxtaposing old and new in original and compelling ways has become a hallmark
of Nicola's nationally recognized building, renovation and decoration work.
Nicola carefully considers every space—working from rough sketches to detailed plans,
and consulting with architects and builders to ensure their meticulous execution. A pragmatic contractor, Nicola is as attentive to lumber grades, building codes and budgets as she is to paint colors and wallpaper swatches. She advises her clients on purchases from lighting to furniture, adding the unifying touches and exquisite details that create a sense of inimitable personal style.
Nicola launched her exclusive, vintage-inspired bedding line with Garnet Hill in 2008, and in the summer of 2010 opened the doors of her boutique homegoods store and design studio on the waterfront in Portland's famous Old Port District. You can find Nicola working with blueprints, fabric swatches, antiques and the very latest fashions at Nicola Home on 215 Commercial Street in Portland, Maine.
Nicola's homes are suffused with warmth, alive with contrasts, tempt guests to linger and embrace the families that live within them.
